Supporting a Diverse and Inclusive Workplace

The Company has developed a Diversity and Inclusion strategy that is integral to how business is done.

New training on topics such as bridging cultures in the workplace and leading in a diverse environment was provided last year to increase awareness around leveraging diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

As a member of the Government of Canada’s Federal Contractors Program, Husky has also strengthened its commitment to employment equity through the development of a comprehensive Employment Equity Plan.

The Plan is designed to ensure four designated groups – women, Aboriginal Peoples, persons with disabilities and visible minorities – are appropriately represented in Husky’s workforce and that employment barriers are eliminated.

As part of the Plan, an employee self-identification survey demonstrated strong representation across all the designated groups.

For example, while trending positively, Husky continues to further identify opportunities for the representation of women in senior management roles and persons with disabilities in professional positions.

Total Rewards

Husky's compensation programs are designed to attract, retain and develop employees. The program is based on a pay-for-performance philosophy requiring employee alignment with, and delivery of, business objectives.

The Company conducts annual external and internal reviews and evaluates progress made on individual and organizational goals. Components of this industry-competitive compensation program include base salary and short and long-term incentives, as well as an employee share purchase program.

Employees are eligible for a fully funded, comprehensive benefits package. This includes programs designed to help employees and their families maintain physical and emotional well-being, such as supplementary medical care, dental plan, income protection (i.e. life insurance, accidental death & dismemberment insurance), registered retirement programs and planning assistance, non-registered savings plan, vacation and paid time off.

Husky understands the contribution healthy employees make to its success. To that end, it provides such programs as:

  • Employee and Family Assistance Program
  • Health Challenges that offer educational components and encourage healthy behaviours
  • An annual Wellness Fair, which gives staff the opportunity to gain first-hand information from health care professionals and participate in voluntary health screening tests

The Company continues to support employees in retirement by providing a fully-funded retirement benefit program.

Delivering Results: Fostering a respectful and diverse workplace and providing a competitive, stimulating work environment helps the Company attract and retain the right people.
