1938 Humble Beginnings
The Husky Refining Company was incorporated on January 1, 1938, in Cody, Wyoming, U.S.A. It began as a small family-owned business, founded by Alberta born Glenn E. Nielson, who was also President.
Husky survived its first years selling road asphalt and bunker railway fuel, in bulk and at wholesale prices, to railways and farmers.
Though many remained pessimistic about Husky’s chances to be financially successful, Nielson was a skilled businessman. He adopted the marketing slogan “Husky Gets You Through” and never missed a payroll.
